Hugo Lloris was also busier in the second 45, after a quiet first half. The ‘keeper made a good save from Romelu Lukaku’s shot across goal. The Belgian striker then hit the post with a great header from a Jesse Lingard cross.
But then the breakthrough finally came, after 81 minutes. Martial, latched onto Lukaku’s headed flick on to score past fellow Frenchman Lloris. United saw out the victory to go three points clear of Spurs in the Premier League table.
